ACGME set to release residency program assessment template
The ACGME will soon release to GME programs a template for assessing residency programs during site visits. The final version of the template will measure a program's performance in regard to the ACGME's standards and goals. In addition, many of the elements on the template will help residency program directors conduct their own self-assessments.
Although the ACGME is already using interim versions of the template for site visits, the template is still in the final stages of development, according to Susan Swing, PhD, director of research for ACGME.
"It's an internal document right now. It's used by the site visitors . . . as a checklist of things they should be looking for when they visit a program," Swing says. "We've had several versions [of the template] and are still working on a final version. That's why we're not ready to release it yet to program directors."
