Addressing aging physicians' abilities

As the country's population continues to grow older, hospitals and medical staffs may struggle with how to monitor the skills and abilities of their physicians who are also advancing in age. According to a study released earlier this year by the Association of American Medical Colleges on the projected physician shortage, 10% of the current physician workforce is between 65 and 75; and 26% are between 55 and 64. These figures are based on the 2013 American Medical Association Physician Masterfile.
