The top story this week is the recent announcement that AmSurg Corp. is purchasing Sheridan Healthcare in order to diversify its service offerings. In recent years, ambulatory surgery centers (ASC) like the ones run by AmSurg have become more popular among patients due to their price and convenience over hospitals. It’ll be interesting to see what sort of impact, if any, the acquisition of the Sheridan, a provider of outsourced physician services to hospitals, has on ASCs.
