ANA calls for increased funding to meet projected nursing need
September 11, 2014
The American Nurses Association (ANA) has called for a 12% increase in federal funding in 2015 to help recruit and educate new nurses to fill newly created position and replace retiring nurses. The ANA projects the U.S. will need 1.1 million new nurses by 2022.
Citing a statistic that approximately 80,000 applicants were turned away from nursing programs last year due to faculty shortages, ANA also recommended developing and recruiting more nursing professors and training sites.
