What should an effective proctoring policy include?
Based on review of proctoring policies from numerous organizations, the following categories provide a good starting framework for creating an effective policy:
- Purpose. It should describe in simple terms why your organization is developing the policy.
- Medical staff oversight. Establish early in the policy which committee or individuals from the medical staff are responsible for this process.
- Scope of the proctoring program. It should provide the opportunity to define your organization's proctoring program.
- Responsibilities. Make a list of the individuals or groups that play a role in the proctoring process.
- Methods. It should describe the approaches used by the organization relative to the various specialties that perform proctoring.
