Ask the expert: Where do we begin bylaw reviews?

It's a daunting task. Your initial bylaw review should include the following:

• Identify critical requirements of your bylaws
• Record your current compliance with Joint Commission standards
• Record an action plan to modify your existing bylaws if necessary
• Assign responsibility and accountability to a party or parties that will generate necessary changes
• Record target dates for modifications
• Track your progress on each of the various elements that may be under review.
