Azmat case links fraud and abuse claims to credentialing
Historically, fraud and abuse claims were not connected to medical staff credentialing. Rather, medical staff credentialing is typically linked to cases in which a physician sues over denial of privileges or corrective action, negligent credentialing cases brought by patients, and accreditation actions, according to "The Intersection of Credentialing and Fraud and Abuse: When Credentialing Procedures Become Fraud Issues," presented by Timothy B. Adelman and Allan Adelman at the National Association Medical Staff Services annual conference in October.
