Can publically available CMS inspection data be a liability for hospitals?

In May 2013, The Cleveland Clinic, a large hospital system in Cleveland, Ohio, had 15 CMS violations ranging from medical staff bylaw and governing body responsibilities to surgical privileges and medical staff qualifications. In the same month, Dallas Medical Center registered 12 deficiencies, some of which included problems with the hospital's governing body and medical staff responsibilities. In January 2013, Renaissance Hospital in Terrell, Texas, had 94 violations, including specific issues related to medical staff credentialing.
