Check competency requirements with local authorities as USP sterile compounding update comes online
Check with your accrediting organization and local or state boards of pharmacy to ensure that your hospitals understand the expectations for how often staff must demonstrate core competencies in sterile drug compounding. The U.S. Pharmacopeia (USP) has revised its standard under USP <797> “Pharmaceutical Compounding — Sterile Preparations,” effective November 1, 2023. Those revisions come with very specific requirements for training and competency.
