Clinical privilege standard makes TJC’s compliance issue list

Among ambulatory care facilities, The Joint Commission standard that states an organization grants initial, renewed, or revised clinical privileges to those who are permitted to practice independently topped the list of five requirements that were most frequently identified as “not compliant” in 2013 for accredited organizations and certified programs. The standard, HR.02.01.03, was cited in 49% of surveys. It was also the most cited requirement in office-based surgery practice surveys, at 64%, according to the April issue of Perspectives.

In addition, The Joint Commission reported that the field review of proposed revisions to diagnostic imaging requirements regarding radiologists’ qualifications and competency for the ambulatory care, hospital, and critical access hospital programs will end April 10.
