Court affirms dismissal of negligent credentialing claim

A Georgia Court of Appeals, Third Division, affirmed the dismissal of a negligent credentialing claim against Northside Hospital, Inc. Barbara Ladner sued Northside, alleging that the hospital negligently credentialed Vahan Kassabian, MD, a board-certified urologist, who performed prostatic cryosurgery on Barbara's husband at Northside. After the surgery, Mr. Ladner was readmitted to the hospital five weeks later for post-surgical complications. Subsequent surgeries revealed Mr. Ladner had sustained a rectal injury during the prostatic cryosurgery. He ultimately died.
