Employed physicians as medical staff members

After a year of looking for a general/vascular surgeon, the physician recruiting department (reporting to human resources) has signed, sealed, and delivered a candidate: Dr. Star. They inform the medical staff services department (MSSD) (reporting to the chief medical officer [CMO]) that this candidate's credentialing/privileging process is to be a top strategic priority per the CEO herself! The practice manager (reporting to the vice president of business development) has already sent out notices indicating an office start date in 30 days. Payer relations (reporting to the chief financial officer) is pressuring everyone to get credentialing information to the insurance companies so the hospital can get paid once Dr. Star arrives.
