Employed physicians as medical staff members
After resigning from Disjointed Hospital following her nine-month traumatic employment process, Dr. Young seeks employment at Coordinated Hospital. On her first visit, the physician recruiter informs her that some background information will be verified by the medical staff services department (MSSD) and next steps determined.
Within a week, Dr. Young returns for a set of interviews with some key physician and hospital leaders, including an MSP who will be her primary point of contact if an employment offer is extended and accepted. Shortly thereafter, she receives an employment agreement and one application package for benefits, medical staff credentialing/privileging, and insurance payer credentialing. The MSP guides her through the application process. Because it is a clean application, her tentative start date of 60 days after receipt of application is on track. She receives notice that the process has been successfully completed with the exception of one insurance payer (which is notorious for delayed processing of credentials), but the practice manager has cleared her to begin work on the agreed-upon date.
