FDA proposes powdered medical glove ban

Due to possible health risks, the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) recently proposed a ban on most powdered medical gloves. According to the FDA, the powdered gloves “pose an unreasonable and substantial risk of illness or injury.”

The FDA claims that the powder used on gloves to make them easier to put on and take off may carry proteins that can cause respiratory allergic reactions, post-surgical adhesions, severe airway inflammation, and wound inflammation.

The ban proposal can be found here and comments from the public can be submitted until June 20.
