In honor of physicians

Each year on March 30, hospitals across the country express their appreciation for their physicians by celebrating National Doctors' Day. Eudora Brown Almond of Winder, Ga., the wife of Dr. Charles B. Almond, observed the first Doctors' Day in 1933 by mailing greeting cards and placing flowers on the graves of deceased physicians. By 1958, the U.S. House of Representatives adopted a resolution to commemorate Doctors' Day, and in 1991, President George H.W. Bush designated March 30 as National Doctors' Day.
