Another hospital learned the importance of conducting criminal background checks the hard way. Bellevue Hospital in New York City, NY, recently discovered that an ex-convict was selling drugs and guns at the facility, according to report from Daily News, L.P.
Although the hospital routinely conducts criminal background checks, Sam Perez slipped through the cracks and was employed to draw blood and conduct several other patient procedures. According to the Daily News, Bellevue is not reviewing employee files to ensure background checks were conducted on all employees.
