How patient safety organizations can help ease patient safety risks due to staffing shortages
Before the COVID-19 pandemic, staffing shortages of healthcare professionals were already an area of concern. In 2019, the Association of American Medical Colleges projected a shortage of up to nearly 122,000 physicians by 2032. Along those same lines, the need for nurses was projected to outpace growth in the field as nursing school enrollment lagged behind projected demand, according to the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics.
