Identify and recruit physician leaders
The medical executive committee (MEC) should thoughtfully consider the leadership identification and training process when looking for new physician leaders. One of the first steps should be defining the criteria for various leadership positions. The following newsletter lists examples of potential criteria for leaders that typically are members of the MEC. Criteria should also be developed for other MEC members such as department chairs, members at large, past presidents, etc.
