The increasing scope of negligent credentialing

For healthcare organizations, establishing appropriate processes for credentialing that protect against a potential charge of negligent credentialing may sometimes seem like the proverbial walk through a minefield. However, it can be done if they take proper precautions and avoid the temptation to move the credentialing process along too quickly.

The temptation to move quickly is often a result of mounting pressure to onboard new applicants or to reappoint someone who has a history with the organization and has provided acceptable quality of care. The cost for such actions can lead to a frightening conclusion.
