Judge-directed negotiations save time and money on malpractice cases

We've all seen it before-a patient sues a hospital after a bad outcome, and the plaintiff's lawyers claim malpractice on the part of the treating physicians, dragging everyone else who was even remotely involved in the case into a long, drawn-out battle. The case takes years and costs hundreds of thousands of dollars to litigate and possibly millions in payouts. By the end, everyone emerges bedraggled and worse for wear. But there might be another solution.
