In long-term care credentialing, be rigorous yet realistic

Increasingly, mergers and acquisitions are making strange bedfellows of acute, ambulatory, and postacute care facilities. As these newly aligned entities share practitioners and best practices, formalized credentialing is catching on across the care continuum.

In many nontraditional environments, the rise of credentialing is outstripping the development of regulatory and accreditation standards, leaving organizations with scant guidance on how to foster consistency across their spectrum of services and align their vetting practices with setting-specific needs. The long-term care industry is a prime example of this incongruity.
