In the news: Senators propose bill to make physicians' profiles public

The Guam Board of Medical Examiners may soon make available to the public the profiles of healthcare professionals, according to GuamPDN.com. Introduced by Sen. Tina Muña Barnes, Vice Speaker Benjamin Cruz, and Sen. Tony Ada, Bill 107 (The Patient Protection Through Information Act) would require the public disclosure of:
 

  • Temporary restraining orders; interim suspension orders; revocations, suspensions, probations, or limitations on practice ordered by the board, including those made part of a probationary order or stipulated agreement; public letters of reprimand; and infractions, citations or fines.
  • Civil judgments in any amount, for damages, death, or personal injury caused by the physician and surgeon's negligence, error, or omission in practice or by his or her rendering of unauthorized professional services; all settlements within the past 10 years, if there are three or more; and any summaries of hospital disciplinary actions that result in the termination or revocation of a licensee's staff privileges for medical disciplinary cause or reason.
