Physician re-entry grant program targets underserved areas

The Center for Personalized Education for Physicians (CPEP) has received a $200,000 grant from the Colorado Health Foundation to help primary care and mental health clinicians who have been out of clinical practice for an extended time resume clinical practice in underserved/rural areas. The 18-month grant program will provide resources to raise awareness of the benefits and value of re-entry clinicians and will recruit inactive, fully trained clinicians who left practice in good standing to resume practice in Colorado. In addition, the grant will be used to develop 20 preceptorship sites in community-based facilities, including hospitals, community health centers, and rural clinics.
