Physicians weigh in on the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
In April 2013, the Federation of State Medical Boards (FSMB) began exploring the idea of using an interstate compact for physician licensing. The idea behind the compact was to make licensing more efficient for physicians who practice in multiple states while also maintaining the integrity and standards of state licensing boards. As of September 2015, 11 states have enacted the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, and a handful of state legislatures have introduced legislation to enact the Compact.
