Privileging audiologists: Through HR or medical staff?

Most facilities authorize and assess competency for audiologists through the human resource process rather than credential and privilege them through the medical staff. The Joint Commission standards identify a specific group of nonphysician healthcare professionals (i.e., physician assistants and advanced practice RNs) who must be credentialed and privileged through the medical staff process.
