Study: Physician burnout increasing
December 10, 2015
The percentage of physicians experiencing burnout is on the rise, according to a study published in the Mayo Clinic Proceedings. Using physician survey data from 2011 and 2014, the researchers found that about 54% of respondents showed at least one symptom of burnout based on the Maslach Burnout Inventory compared to 45% in 2011.
The study also looked into the physicians’ satisfaction with their work-life balance and found that it also decreased from about 48% in 2011 to about 41% in 2014.
