Survey: Only 6% of hospitals say they are well-prepared for Ebola

An Ebola readiness poll conducted by the Association for Professionals in Infection Control and Epidemiology (APIC) found that only 6% of respondents believed their facilities are well-prepared to receive a patient with Ebola.

The survey results are based on responses to an online poll from earlier this month of just over 1,000 infection preventionists who practice in acute care hospitals. Respondents were asked to rate their facilities on a 5-point scale (1 = not prepared and 5 = well-prepared). Nearly 40% gave their facilities a rating of 3. Also, 81% of respondents said they had initiated Ebola training for their staffs, while 18% said they hadn’t.
