Tip of the week: Follow up after a meeting
Following up after meetings is equally important as the meeting itself. Follow-up allows you an opportunity to interact one-on-one with meeting attendees to ensure all communication channels are open, attendees know what is require of them, and all project timeframes are understood.
Here are some key things to remember:
Contact attendees a day or two after the meeting to make sure assignments are clear or ask if assistance is needed. Depending on the timeframe, follow up to see if the assignment has been completed. If the task is not complete, ask these questions:
- Are you encountering any difficulties in accomplishing the assignment?
- Does the decision of the group seem impossible to implement?
- Can the chair of the department help?
