Twelfth state enacts Interstate Medical Licensure Compact

Earlier this week, Wisconsin became the twelfth state to enact the Interstate Medial Licensure Compact—legislation aimed to expedite the process for physicians to obtain medical licenses in multiple states and jurisdiction.

The Federation of State Medical Boards released a draft of the model legislation late last year and required the approval of at least seven state legislatures to take effect. The 11 states that have enacted it are Alabama, Idaho, Illinois, Iowa, Minnesota, Montana, Nevada, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
