Urologists see large bump in pay in 2013
The results of an annual Merritt Hawkins survey show urologist’s pay increased by $80,000 in one year. According to the 2014 Review of Physician and Advanced Practitioner Recruiting Incentives, the average urologist reported earning $504,000 from April 2013 to March 2014, compared to $424,000 in the previous 12 month cycle. The review is based on the 3,158 permanent physician and advanced practitioner search assignments Merritt Hawkins/AMN Healthcare’s physician staffing companies had ongoing or were engaged to conduct during the 12-month period. Although it was a good year for urologists, they were not the highest paid specialty. The top honor went to neurosurgeons, at $591,000.
