Effective April 1, 2004, the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS) has designated the American Medical Association's Physician Profile as an "official designated equivalent source" for verification of board status. The ABMS designated the AMA as an "official display agent" to serve as a provider of primary source equivalent board certification through the AMA E-Physician Profile and the AMA Masterfile.
