Tip of the week: Improve communication to promote medical staff participation
March 22, 2007
An important support system and core process for the medical staff is communication. Effective communicate can promote a sense of ownership and participation among the large body of physicians who spend only a small portion of their time at the hospital. Commit to timely, accurate, and open communication by constantly trying new communication vehicles such as
- Quarterly information socials with hors d'oeuvres to involve the medical staff, administrative officers, and board members
- Audio cassettes sharing events that affect the staff
- Optimal use of e-mail and voice mail systems
- Voting via ballot
- Lunch with the medical staff and administrative officers
