New online educational program aims to solve physician shortage
Physician Retraining & Reentry (PRR) announced this week its online program--created in collaboration with the University of California San Diego School of Medicine faculty--to retrain retired and inactive physicians to practice general medicine at understaffed health centers.
The curriculum consists of 15 online courses and final examination that covers the latest in primary care medical knowledge. Upon completion, the UC San Diego School of Medicine awards graduates up to 180 hours of AMA PRA Category 1 credits. PRR then works with the graduates to place them at a health center in need of a physician.
