Kindred Healthcare, Gentiva Health Services agree to merger
October 10, 2014
The boards of Kindred Healthcare and Gentiva Health Services unanimously approved a deal that would create one of the country’s largest operator of long-term acute care hospitals, inpatient rehabilitation facilities, and home health and hospice services, with an expected annual revenue of just over $7 billion.
In the deal, Kindred would pay about $720 million in cash and stock to acquire Gentiva. The deal is valued at $1.8 billion. The companies are aiming to close the deal, which still needs approval from Gentiva’s stockholders, during the first quarter of 2015.
