More physicians seeking side jobs: Medscape
December 26, 2013
Almost a third of surveyed physicians reported taking on extra medical work outside their practices to help maintain their incomes, a 2012 Physicians Practice survey found. The trend has continued this year, according to a Medscape report released last week. Additional work doesn't necessarily have to add stress; in fact, some experts say the right outside stimulus may even help physicians stave off burnout.
The report cited work as cruise physicians, short-term locum tenens opportunities at music festivals, road races, and other seasonal events, and house calls (when permitted) as three jobs that might appeal to physicians seeking additional opportunities without undue added stress.
