News and briefs: Physicians split on healthcare reform
December 22, 2011
When it comes to healthcare reform, physicians are torn on whether the Affordable Care Act (ACA) is a step in the right or wrong direction. According to a recent survey from Deloitte Center for Health Solutions, an equal number of physicians (44%) support the law as those who do not. Physicians who do not support the ACA responded that they do not think it will reduce costs or increase access to care, and worry about the affects it will have on their income and the shortage of primary care physicians. Although most physicians surveyed had strong feelings either way about the ACA, only 25% responded that they are “very informed” about the law; the rest said they were “somewhat informed.” To read the full survey results, click here.
