Open Payments review period begins

The period for physicians to review and dispute financial information reported under CMS’ Open Payments program has begun. To review and dispute the program’s data, physicians must register with the CMS’ Enterprise Portal and then register with the Open Payments system. Disputes over any inaccurate data initiated by May 20 will be flagged when the data is made public on June 30.

 

Open Payments, which aims to increase transparency and accountability in healthcare by disclosing financial relationships between physicians and drug and device manufacturers and group purchasing organizations, previously came under fire from medical associations over concerns about inaccurate information and its registration and review process.
