The cost of robotic surgery
August 20, 2015
Some physicians are for robotic surgery; some are not. This is the issue of debate in an article on the website Lancaster Online. Physicians highlight the cons of robotic surgery, that it is more costly and not always the best minimally invasive option. It also comes with a steep learning curve, and these physicians argue that it should only be used for complex surgical cases.
However, the learning curve is one of the reasons that Dr. Sharee Livingston, an OB-GYN, uses robotic surgery for all of her cases. āI'd rather do everybody the same way so that proficiency is there. That way when I do run into complex anatomy, Iām really comfortable with the technology.ā
