Dear readers,
In the past I’ve written about the safety measures hospitals are taking to prevent violence, including arming security guards. According to a recent article in The New York Times, 52% of hospitals surveyed said their security personnel carried handguns. Unfortunately this has led to several incidents where patients have been shot by security personnel. This past week’s episode of the public radio show This American Life featured a story in collaboration with The New York Times about one of these incidents. Give it a listen.
