Patients favor integrated care
A survey by the Commonwealth Fund found that patients favor policies that encourage patient-centered and integrated care. Nine of 10 respondents believe that private and public payers should work together to negotiate prices and improve quality, while seven of 10 believe the healthcare system in the U.S. needs a major overhaul, if not complete rebuilding.
“These experiences attest to the value of reforms aimed at stimulating and supporting the spread of more patient-centered, accountable care organizations. To the extent reforms succeed, patients and their families stand to gain from more accessible, safer, responsive, and less wasteful care,” states the Commonwealth Fund in its summary.
