Oklahoma announces initiative to develop more primary care physicians
September 3, 2015
Oklahoma State University will partner with six of the state’s hospitals to produce more primary care physicians for the state’s underserved communities. Once the program is fully implemented in 2021, it is expected to produce about 36 new physicians a year.
The program, which will be funded by a $3.8 million grant from the state’s Tobacco Settlement Endowment Trust, aims to bolster the number of physicians by building recruiting initiatives and residency training programs in underserved communities.
