Alabama enacts Interstate Medical Licensure Compact
This week Alabama enacted the Interstate Medical Licensure Compact, becoming the seventh state required for the compact to go into effect. This triggers the formation of a commission that will administer the streamlined process for physicians interested in practicing in multiple states to obtain medical licensure.
Each member state will appoint two members to the commission, which will meet later this year to discuss the administration of the compact and will be responsible for creating and enforcing the rules governing the process. The others states that have enacted the compact are Idaho, Montana, South Dakota, Utah, West Virginia, and Wyoming.
