Credentialing in hospital-owned clinics

Recently my local clinic announced it had joined the “family” of practices owned by a large area healthcare organization. This is a trend nationwide, as more clinics are purchased by hospitals. It begs some questions: How do these acquisitions affect MSPs? If your organization has acquired an independent clinic, how do you credential those physicians and other practitioners? Do you privilege for both clinics and hospitals, or are there different privilege sets for each? Is OPPE is still required for clinic physicians, and if it is required, how is it handled?

There are few examples of how systems are doing this. If your hospital or system is working through this process, and you’re at the point where you can share the model you’re using or your overall experiences, I’d like to hear about it—and I’m sure your fellow Credentialing Resource Center members would, too.

Thanks for reading!
