Energizing the reappointment process

When it comes to the reapplication for privileges, how do you deal with MDs who procrastinate on everything? How do you establish accountability? The current issue of Credentialing Resource Center Journal includes one medical staff services department’s answers to these questions, posed during a brainstorming session at the recent Massachusetts Association Medical Staff Services annual meeting.

Some of the other strategies discussed during the session included:

  • Charging a late fee
  • Voluntary resignation with the caveat to reapply and begin as an initial appointment (including charging an initial appointment fee).
  • Make timeliness of MSO response part of their OPPE
  • Sending an email alert that their reappointment package is coming

Do you have a preferred method of motivating medical staff that you’d like to share? Send it along and I’ll post it on the CRC blog or in a future edition of the Credentialing Resource Center Insider.

Thanks for reading!
