Health plan trains physicians to be leaders

In an effort to enhance management skills and improve patient outcomes, L.A. Care Health Plan is offering physicians a six-month training program to become better leaders.

The training consists of five in-person seminars covering topics such as leadership styles, leading effective teams, and managing healthcare services and finances; five webinars on topics such as optimal leadership practices and physician leadership in quality and safety; face-to-face meetings with program alumni; and guest lecturer.

The program’s first class of 20 participants completed the training in February 2017. The second class will finish the training in August.
