Healthcare practitioners highest paid professionals

If you are looking for a well-paying job, look in healthcare, according to a new report from U.S. News & World Report. Tied for a median salary of $208,000, the top paying jobs are: anesthesiologist, surgeon, oral and maxillofacial surgeon, obstetrician and gynecologist, orthodontist, prosthodontist, and psychiatrist.

To identify professions for the 2021 rankings, U.S. News & World Report looked for jobs that have the largest projected number and percentage of openings from 2019 to 2029, as determined by the U.S. Bureau of Labor Statistics. The jobs that topped the list were then selected for the 2021 Best Jobs analysis and rankings. Then they are given a score based on salary, unemployment rate, 10-year growth volume, 10-year growth percentage, future job prospects, stress level, and work-life balance.

Based on these rankings, anesthesiologist came in as first in best paying jobs, eighth in best healthcare jobs, and 14th in best jobs overall.

The other healthcare practitioners that made it into the top 25 of best paying jobs include:
  • Pediatrician — $175,310

  • Dentist — $155,600
  • Pharmacist — $128,090
