National Voluntary Reporting Initiative shares results
October 22, 2003
The Center for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) recently released its first set of clinical process data collected through the National Voluntary Hospital Reporting Initiative. The initiative aims to measure how hospitals manage care.
The first release of data tracks hospitals' treatment of heart attacks, heart failure, and pneumonia. According to a recent JCAHO press release, this "information is intended to help individuals better navigate the health care system and assist hospitals in meeting their public reporting commitment."
