NP and PA demand continues to increase

More than 80% of nurse practitioners (NP) and physician assistants (PA) have been recently contacted by a job recruiter, according to a survey conducted by PracticeMatch. Of the 1,070 advanced practice professionals surveyed, one third said they expect to change jobs within a few years. Nearly 16% of PAs and 19% of NPs expect to change jobs within one year. Advanced practice professionals are using this demand to leverage their position in the healthcare market. Almost half of respondents are unwilling to relocate any distance for a new job, and only 20% of candidates are willing to relocate outside of their geographic region. The top priorities for taking a new job are “higher salary,” “better work/life balance,” and “better hours.”
