NPDB spells out when to report clinical privileges actions

The National Practitioner Data Bank (NPDB) Final Regulations define clinical privileges as “the authorization by a healthcare entity to a healthcare practitioner for the provision of healthcare services, including privileges and membership on the medical staff,” the March edition of the NPDB News reported. Hospitals and other healthcare entities must report clinical privileges actions taken against physicians and dentists. Hospitals and other healthcare entities may report clinical privileges actions taken against other healthcare practitioners.
