Survey: Slow changes in accreditation

Overall, the responses to the 2015 MSP Salary Survey question "Which organization accredits your facility?" didn't change much from 2014. The Joint Commission accredits 76% of respondents' facilities, according to the 2015 results, and this continues the organization's incremental gains since 2012.

Larger increases were seen for DNV-GL Healthcare (8%) and the Healthcare Facilities Accreditation Program (HFAP). Newcomer Center for Improvement in Healthcare Quality (CIHQ) was named by nine sites, up from seven last year. (Respondents were allowed to select more than one choice.) The CMS/state-only and CMS/state survey/voluntary accreditation options also held steady compared with their 2014 results.

The number of respondents choosing "Other" dropped to 5%. Responses in this group included:

  • BPHC (Bureau of Primary Health Care Center)
  • CHAP (Community Health Accreditation Partner)
  • CARF (Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities)
  • College of American Pathology Accreditation
  • FQHC (Federally Qualified Health Center)
  • ISO (International Organization for Standardization)
  • None/not applicable
